Bishop Briggs took the stage Thursday evening in support of Bleachers’ “Gone Now” tour. In a little over a years’ time I have covered Bishop 3 times in Philadelphia. Each and every time she brings it even harder than the last. I have never seen her look so comfortable and in command as Thursday night, she owned the crowd. Opening with “Dark Side” which was followed by “Wild Horses” she set the tone early. With her vocals echoing throughout the venue, ranging from the highest highs to the lowest lows shes hits chords and tones that reveal a touch of legendary vocalist Etta James. Briggs played an 11 song set that ended with “Hi-Lo” and encored with “River”. The crowd couldn’t get enough, many fans I talked to throughout the night were there solely to see Bishop. If there’s one artist that I have covered, interviewed, spoke to and watched perform of the last 2 years that makes me think “wow” every performance it is Bishop Briggs.
