Mustang, Challenger, Godsmack, all classics that have been kicking asses forever. The tour aptly named When Legends Rise showed the vacationers and gamblers in Atlantic City why Godsmack is a legend. Performing at the Ovation Hall located in the beautiful Ocean Resort, the capacity crowd could smell the burning rubber. It was typical Godsmack with lead singer Sully Erna popping neck veins in the first song.
This stop did not include the usual flames galore, perhaps because it had already been hot enough with a heatwave gripping the east coast. The stage had more smoke and lighting to make up for the flames. Featuring a backdrop which resembled a pyramid on the $1.00 bill, the Godsmack logo strategically placed on top.
Backed by a talented trio of Shannon Larkin on drums, sporting Alien sunglasses which was the icing on the cake, bassist Robbie Merrill who was in a groove providing the bass lines all night while moving his body like he was getting in a Bactrim yoga session. Finally, was the ever focused Tony Romobola who filled the hall with loops, wah-wah, and speed solos!!
So Sully just needs to sing right? Wrong, besides bringing his own guitar chops to the starting line, he got into a drum battle with Larkin that of course dazzled the crowd to hysteria. It was a perfect night to pop the top and let off some good old American steam! Sometimes, you just gotta drop the clutch.
The band is donating portions of ticket says to the Scars Foundation, established by Sully Erna and Godsmack which helps raise awareness of mental health issues. Wanna do some long distance good? Here is the LINK from the website to donate.
