Greta Van Fleet rocks The Met

Greta Van Fleet ended 2019 with a bang at their two sold out shows at The Met in Philadelphia on Sunday and Monday night.

The rock band from Frankenmuth, Michigan, was originally supposed to play the Met on October 15 and 16, but rescheduled due to the lead singer, Josh Kiszka, catching the flu.

The band was certainly in tip-top shape for their performance Monday evening however, putting on an amazing show fitting for an end of the year celebration.

Front man Josh Kiska was everything that a lead singer should be – talented, charismatic, and completely entertaining. His vocals sounded superb in person, as if a young Robert Plant was standing right in center stage.

One of the most unique things about Greta Van Fleet is that the band is literally family. Three of the four band members (Josh, Jake and Sam Kiszka) are brothers by blood, with the fourth member (Danny Wagner) being a friend close enough to be considered family. The band formed in 2012 when the boys were young teens. The friendship between the band members transmits during their live performance, and perhaps plays a big role in the success of the band.

The setlists for the two shows were pretty similar, however Monday’s performance included a cover of Labi Siffre’s “Watch Me.” Whether playing covers or their original songs, the band sounded amazing live and put on the complete definition of a rock show.

With these two epic shows marking the end of a successful decade for the band, it’ll be interesting to see what Greta Van Fleet has in store for 2020 and the decade to come.

Josh Kiszka recently revealed that the band plans to release their new album in early 2020. While a title for the project has not yet been revealed, he did state that it is intended to be a full release and a full album. The band completed a majority of the writing and recording of the album this past summer.

We hope to see Greta Van Fleet back in Philly soon, hopefully performing new music off their highly anticipated upcoming album!
