The annual Winter Jawn, an outdoor concert hosted by Philadelphia’s #1 Alternative music station 104.5, unlike last year’s show, the weather was fit for the name as the temperatures did not get out of the 30’s.  The talent however, was so hot the massive crowd did not seem to feel the cold.  Providing another impressive lineup put together by 104.5 starting with The Great Enough, The Interrupters, lovelytheband, Matt & Kim, and Young The Giant.  The New Music Discovery Stage featured: Bob Moses, Keuning, Royal Teeth, Fitness, The Brevet.

Philadelphia’s own The Great Enough kicked off the event, providing much needed jumpstart to get the crowd’s engine running.  The band has seen tremendous success since 2017, with the song “Can You Relate?” which went viral with over a million streams on Spotify.  Last year the band opened shows which also featured Imagine Dragons, Judah & the Lion, Mike Shinoda, Fuel, Eve 6, Sister Hazel, AJR, Sir Sly, Missio, Fastball, Cracker. Matt & Kim

Matt & Kim

It was one of those moments when a supporting band destroys the festival and leaves a lasting memory in the audience’s memory bank.  This is exactly what happen this afternoon.  Let’s check the shopping list:  blown up sex dolls of the performers – check, confetti – check, sex toys used as drum sticks – check, a beach ball the size of a car – check.  Oh, and they played music with the energy of the entire crowd!  Matt provided the keyboards and vocals while Kim literally abused her drum kit, switching between smiling and screaming at the top of her lungs (was that a flash?). When the samples came, Kim would stand on her drum kit like a musical Red Sonja.   I was blown away by Matt & Kim and cannot wait to shoot them again this summer. My personal highlight of the entire show!!  Matt & Kim’s tour dates can be found HERE, you can have your own MATT & KIM dolls too HERE !!!

Young The Giant

Young The Giant

Touring behind their most recent release MIRROR MASTER, Young The Giant featuring Sameer Gadhia (lead vocals), Jacob Tilley (guitar), Eric Cannata (guitar), Payam Doostzadeh (bass guitar), and Francois Comtois (drums) had the crowd’s hands up in the air, as Sameer expressively sang lyrics.  The band had the longest setlist naturally being the headliner which featured the Billboard hit “Superposition” which has already been on the charts for 3 months. The complete setlist included: Oblivion, Heat of the Summer, Apartment, Something to Believe In, Cough Syrup, Mind Over Matter, Nothing’s Over, Superposition, Tightrope, Silvertongue, My Body.  Young The Giant tour dates can be found HERE !!!
