Jimmy Buffett – Escapism Anyone?

Who needs transcendental meditation when Jimmy Buffett is in town?  A unique blend of total relaxation and partying at the same time.  Buffett concerts are known for  their the pre-concert festivities.  The vibe is very chill, as the parrot heads are always super friendly.  Landsharks, Tiki bars, grass skirts, blenders, and of course a live cover band filled the parking lot of the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ on a mild summer day in early August.  The party started early and ended as Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers wished everyone good night.

The Son of a Son of a Sailor – High Tide Tour with a massive 28 song set-list which included everything the crowd wanted and a little extra.  Jimmy played the radio famous hits, as well as the collaboration hits with both Zac Brown and Alan Jackson“It’s Five O’clock Somewhere” started with a humorous story by lead guitarist Mac McAnally who used military time and called the song 1700 hour somewhere as a island version of a clock filled the backdrop on the stage.

The middle portion of the show had the crowd going to a Jazz Police Lounge as Jimmy wore a white sports jacket, and sipped wine as they performed an acoustic set.  The remainder of the evening was filled with everything Jimmy Buffett providing hits from his massive catalog of music.  Also known for his crowd participation, Jimmy took the audience to the Islands for 2+ hours with clasped hands moving to the left-right in unison during “Fins”, and happily shouting SALT, SALT, SALT during “Margaritaville” !!
