As the lead singer of LCD Soundsystem, James Murphy took the stage to a huge roar from the sold out crowd. This the final night of their three sold out shows at The Fillmore in Philadelphia. The stage replicated more of a studio than a stage with each member surrounded in their own instrumental cubicle. Murphy, sporting business attire quickly lost the suit jacket to reveal a faded tye-dyed T-shirt, which was much more appropriate for the party about to take place. LCD launched right into Us v Them (cue the disco ball !!), and the party officially started. As the crowd danced and sang to each song, the stage lighting changed producing a different feel to match each song. It was also a birthday party of sorts as Murphy announced that it was keyboardist Nancy Whang’s birthday.
LCD Soundsystem is on tour promoting their new release “American Dream,” while enjoying their dual Grammy nominations for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Dance Recording for “Tonite.” The party lasted long into the night with a large helping of musical birthday cake for everyone to enjoy. The tour continues into the beginning of next year in the States before going international.
