Live Music is Revived with the Revivalists at Red Rocks

To say it’s been a rough past year and a half for the music industry would be an understatement. Musicians have been out of work, concert venues have been on the verge of closure, and live music lovers have been without a safe space for quite some time. However, hope has been on the horizon. Slowly and surely, live music has been making a comeback in the past few weeks and we were honored to cover our first post-pandemic show at one of the most iconic music venues in the country with one of the best live bands around.

The Revivalists, an American rock band from New Orleans, La. took over Red Rocks Amphitheatre for two full nights last week. We were able to cover Thursday nights show, which was followed by a performance on Friday evening. This was the first time The Revivalists have performed in person since live music was halted in March of 2020, and the Red Rocks stage couldn’t have been a more fitting venue for such a monumental return to live performances for the band.

Led by front man David Shaw, this eight piece band is known for their energetic live performances that engage the audience. Shaw was not afraid to get up close and personal with the Red Rocks crowd, jumping over the front barrier many times to dance with fans in the front few rows and weaving in and out of some of the many, many rows of seats at Red Rocks.

The band took to social media after their string of shows to put into words how much this weekend of music meant to them.  On Twitter and Instagram the band wrote, “It was a deeply emotional 2 nights with many of our closest friends, family and fans. Thank you to all who came to share in unleashing that palpable cosmic collective energy we’ve all been storing up the past 16 months. Felt damn good to LET IT ALL OUT!”

The combination of such a beautiful venue and an amazingly entertaining band made for a magical night of music. If the rest of the shows of 2021 are anything like this, we’re in for a great year of music that just might make up for everything we lost in 2020.
