Nick Perri and The Underground Thieves had a homecoming of sorts last week in Philadelphia (Ardmore, PA). As I waited for the performances to start, I was surrounded by happy people. This made sense as the music of Nick Perri and The Underground Thieves is “feel good music”, but this was something different. Everyone knew each other, people were hugging each other left and right. Suddenly I felt like the boyfriend who was brought here and didn’t know anyone, however, as the NPATUT fans do, I was quickly pulled into conversations about how I knew Nick, etc.
Nick, having just come off the road supporting Blackberry Smoke, and The Nielsen Trust across the United States, decided to satisfy the local needs by scheduling a residency (every Thursday in July) at the Ardmore Music Hall. It was a perfect setting to take it all in. Promoting their latest release Sun Via, the performance was on point and with a few added twists (Sunshine of Your Love – Cream, and Polly – Nirvana), the set was musically tight, while the performance seemed effortless, and the crowd loved every minute of it!!
It was a perfect night for escape from the last year we all experienced, and a reminder of what once was, and will be again. The performance was a musical prescription for what I needed, and based on the crowd’s enjoyment, what everyone needed. At this time, the band is still putting together dates and locations for the remainder of the year, you can catch them in Atlantic City in August, of if you want to rock on the water, book a cabin on the KISS-cruise (yes, that band) while they sail away in the islands rocking the waves.
All the info can be found on their website: nickperrimusic.com – BAND: Nick Perri, Brian Weaver, Justin DiFebbo, Zil Fessler , Michael Montesano, and Anthony Montesano.
