The town was a buzz Wednesday evening, even hours before the performance. As I sat at a local pub, eating dinner, I hear Regina Spektor’s “Fidelity” being played as the patrons (most if not all were in town for the concert) sang along. An hour or so later Regina took the spotlighted stage at the Santander Performing Arts Center in Reading, PA. With no opening act and no backing band Regina took her seat at the Piano and unleashed an hour and forty minutes of magical music and intricate lyrics. Spektor played mostly songs off of her most recent album “Remember Us to Life” but did mix in several popular hits. The spotlight remained on Spektor throughout the set which also included colorful lights beaming. The magical performance ended in ovation as Regina encored with the hit “Samson”. This was one of those performance I felt lucky to be there, lucky to witness. Raw, uncut, nothing except a piano and a beautiful voice singing geniously written lyrics.
