As the soft rain quieted the city of Wilmington, the opened venue doors provided Market Street jazz soundtrack. Kat Edmonson brought her soulful jazz styling to an intimate crowd on the upper level of the historic Queen building. The night was filled with Kat’s popular tunes, as well as selections from her new release “Old Fashioned Gal.” Kat explained that the setlist taped to the stage floor was more of a menu to choose from as the vibe provided the band direction. Throughout the night, Kat supplied the backstory for each song, so you could if only for one night, ride along with Kat’s song writing process. Kat confessed that many of her songs are about love, heartache, and break ups. Backed by a talented band consisting of Brian Dunlap on keys, Bob Hart on the upright bass, Aaron Thurston on the sticks, and just a fantastic guitarist by the name of Matt Munisteri. Kat and her band provided an escape from the rat race outside, and allowed you to just sit back relax. It was like a warm bath for the mind. The Old-Fashioned Gal tour continues in the States through May before heading to Japan and China.
