ZZ Ward and her band hit the TLA in Philadelphia as part of her headlining tour in support of her album The Storm. Ward was last in Philly opening for Kaleo at The Tower Theater but this time her name is tops on the marquee. With a full audience, ZZ played nearly her entire catalog even mixing in a 5 song acoustic set. Her vocals are captivating, with incredible range. At times, she has a bit of a southern twang and other times she is very bluesy. I often pictured myself in an underground blues/jazz club in New Orleans. Fans of all aged attended as ZZ dedicated one song to 2 pre-teen female fans with signs in the first row. I am already looking forward to her next stop in the area, wherever that may be.
