Together Pangea Elevates Underground Arts

together Pangea - Underground Arts - 08.24.23

Philadelphia’s Underground Arts hosted Together Pangea for the second stop of their east coast tour. The band formed over a decade ago in Los Angeles, CA and has continued to be a dynamic revelation in the garage rock scene. Although to be fair that label is a bit limiting. Hearing them live will convince even a seasoned music listener the band outperforms those monikers with their uncompromising style. The four-member group including Danny Bengston (bass), Erik Jimenez (guitar), Max Kuehn (drums), and Will Keegan (vocals/guitar) opened the show with “Marijuana” a single from their fifth album DYE released in 2021.

Underground Arts served as the perfect venue for this show. There are no barricades or fencing, or overzealous security separating the band from the crowd. It allows for a very in-your-face experience that suited the audience and Together Pangea. The band certainly invited the crowd to move closer to the stage and the overall vibe of the night hit a fever pitch when they started playing “Badillac” from their 2014 album of the same name.

The show was opened by Reckling @kelseyreck, from L.A., and THICK @thickinbrooklyn, hailing from Brooklyn, NY. Both bands will be traveling with Together Pangea for the remainder of the tour. Having all three bands on the bill made for an impactful listening experience.

Together Pangea ended the evening with “Alive” and a cover of “Gates of Heaven” originally by The Dad Horse Experience. Hopefully you’re lucky enough to live close to one of the stops on this tour and bought yourself a ticket. Either way definitely take a listen to their latest release Pt. 2, available now on all streaming platforms. The EP features a stripped-down acoustic version of “Night of the Living Dummy” and additional tracks from their 2021 release, DYE.
